However, as with many procedures, there are several myths or misunderstandings surrounding blepharoplasty. It is time to demystify some of the most common myths and provide more information about this procedure from Dr. Boone.

If you are looking for a surgery to refresh tired, heavy eyes, the best option is a Blepharoplasty. Let’s get to know some of the myths:

1. Blepharoplasty is only for older people

In reality, Blepharoplasty does not have a specific or stipulated age. While it is true that it is more common in older people who experience a diagnosis called Ptosis which refers to drooping eyelids and wrinkles around the eyes; it is also suitable and recommended for younger people who wish to correct bags under the eyes or drooping upper eyelids, either due to genetic or lifestyle factors.

2.Blepharoplasty has a long recovery time.

The initial recovery period for eyelid surgery lasts between one to two weeks.  Patients may experience some discomfort and swelling after the procedure and are advised to sleep with their head elevated for the first 3 days; most patients are able to return to work after one to two weeks following surgery.

3. Blepharoplasty only involves skin removal.

Removing excess skin is part of the blepharoplasty surgery, but it may also include the removal or redistribution of fat and tightening of the eyelid muscles. All will depend on the individual needs of the patient. This allows for more complete and natural results.
